Below are the key guidelines, policies, and regulations that govern the College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Middle States Accreditation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Essex County College is a member of the Middle States Association (MSA) for accreditation. MSA activities are carried out through its Commission on Higher Education. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is a voluntary, non-governmental, peer-based membership organization dedicated to educational excellence and improvement through peer evaluation and accreditation. MSCHE reviews the performance of institutions periodically through on-site evaluation or other reports. Accreditation is continued as a result of periodic reviews and evaluations through assessment of institutional achievements. The peer-review process of Essex County College is conducted every 10 years to ensure full compliance with accreditation standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Jersey Statutes and Administrative Code<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The State Board of Education adopts regulations to aid with implementation of portions of education law where specified. Education rules and regulations must adhere to the provisions of state education laws covered under New Jersey Statutes Annotated (N.J.S.A.) 18A and the New Jersey Administrative Code (N.J.A.C.) Title 9A. The Commissioner of Education has jurisdiction over matters that violate Title 18A or applicable administrative code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New Jersey Statutes Annotated (N.J.S.A.) Title 18A \u2013 Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New Jersey Administrative Code (N.J.A.C.) Title 9A \u2013 Higher Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Board of Trustees Policies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Essex County College Board of Trustees is accountable to the citizens of Essex County and the State of New Jersey and is responsible for developing the policies governing the general conduct of affairs of the College. A copy of the Board of Trustees Policies is distributed to members of the Board upon appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Essex County College Board of Trustees is governed by the policies and procedures outlined in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.essex.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Master-Board-Policy-Manual.pdf\"><strong>Board Policy Manual<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">College Regulations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>College regulations are developed to exercise the authority vested in the College pursuant to N.J.S.A. Title 18A, N.J.A.C. Title 9A, and policies of the Board of Trustees. Section 4 of the <a href=\"\/ecc-college-regulations\/\">College Regulations Manual <\/a>contains regulations related to personnel matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Notice of Non-Discrimination<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with the requirements of USDE Guidelines IV-O, Title VI: 34 C.F.R. \u00a7 100.6 (d), Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and other federal, state and local laws, Essex County College (\u201cECC\u201d) does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, disability, creed, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, age, pregnancy, gender identity, or gender expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essex County College prohibits sex discrimination in any of its services, education programs, and activities that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including in admission and employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br><br>Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to Essex County College\u2019s Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s Office for Civil Rights, or both.
